Darshan Academy, Ludhiana, organized a Mock Parliament session for students of Classes VII and VIII as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The Social Science Department conducted the activity to familiarize students with the functioning of the Indian Parliamentary system, particularly the Lok Sabha.
The session provided students with a practical understanding of Indian democracy, parliamentary procedures, and the importance of debate, discussion, and discipline in law-making. Students actively participated by assuming the roles of the Speaker, ruling party, and opposition party.
The proceedings included a question hour, a debate on the New Education Bill 2026, and rulings by the Speaker, giving students a realistic insight into how laws are questioned, discussed, and passed in Parliament. The participants displayed confidence, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of responsibility while debating national issues.
Ms. Rajdeep Kaur Aulakh, Principal, Darshan Academy, appreciated the efforts of the students and the Social Science Department, stating that such activities play a vital role in nurturing critical thinking, leadership qualities, and democratic values among students.
